It All Started in the Summer of '96

I can vividly recall the excitement that filled our home when my mom decided to redecorate our living room. She had picked out a beautiful wallpaper, delicate yet vibrant, and was determined to install it herself. Being a curious and eager teenager, I jumped at the chance to help her. Little did I know, this simple home improvement project would become a cherished memory and ignite a passion within me.

On a warm, sunny afternoon, we set up our workspace in the living room. My mom patiently explained each step of the process: measuring the walls, cutting the wallpaper to size, applying the paste, and carefully aligning each strip to ensure the patterns matched perfectly. The room was filled with the scent of wallpaper paste and the sounds of our laughter as we navigated the challenges of our task.

Working side by side, I watched in awe as my mom expertly smoothed out air bubbles and trimmed the edges with precision. Her hands moved with a grace and confidence that came from years of experience in making our house a home. She showed me the importance of attention to detail and the satisfaction of a job well done. Every strip of wallpaper we hung together was a testament to our teamwork and perseverance.

The process was not without its difficulties. We made mistakes, laughed at our blunders, and learned from them. I remember one particularly stubborn air bubble that seemed impossible to smooth out. My mom, ever patient and encouraging, showed me how to gently work it out without damaging the wallpaper. It was a small victory, but it felt monumental at the time. Each challenge we overcame only strengthened my resolve and deepened my admiration for my mom’s skills and patience.

When we finally finished, we stepped back to admire our handiwork. The living room had been transformed into a cozy, inviting space that radiated warmth and love. I felt a profound sense of accomplishment and pride. It was in that moment, standing beside my mom and gazing at our beautifully wallpapered room, that I realized how much I loved this process of transformation and creation.

That summer day was more than just a home improvement project; it was a bonding experience that brought my mom and me closer together. It taught me the value of hard work, the joy of creating something beautiful with my own hands, and the importance of family. The experience sparked a passion for wallpaper installation that has stayed with me ever since.

Today, as the owner of Naples Wallpaper, I bring that same passion and dedication to every project I undertake. The lessons I learned from my mom continue to guide me in my work. I understand the emotional connection people have with their homes, and I strive to make every installation a seamless and beautiful experience, just like that first one with my mom.

Looking back, I am grateful for that summer of 1996 and the wonderful memories it gave me. It was the beginning of a journey that has brought me immense joy and fulfillment. And every time I install a new wallpaper, I am reminded of that special time with my mom and the passion that it ignited in me.

Thank you, Mom, for showing me the way and for instilling in me the love of creating beautiful spaces. Your lessons and love continue to inspire me every day.
